How Do I Embed a YouTube Video in a 2010 PowerPoint?

Office 2010 makes it easy to add a YouTube Video. But first, you'll need to get the embed code for the video you wish to use.

How do I find the embed code for the YouTube video?
  1. Go to the video on YouTube.
  2. Click on the Share button
  3. Click on Use old embed code.
  4. Uncheck - Add related videos.
  5. Select or customize the size of your video.
  6. Then copy the code and paste it into the PowerPoint's embed code box.

\
To find this...

On the PowerPoint Ribbon go to Insert.
Click the down arrow under Video.
Select Video from Web from the drop down video.
Then place the embed code for the YouTube video you've copied into the box.
Click Insert.

Note: You can re-size the video by dragging the box at the corner, using the double ended arrow. Move the video on the slide by dragging the image with the 4 headed arrow. Add a frame and colorize the video using the Picture Tools.

FYI: Microsoft Office has a YouTube Channel that has thousands of how to videos. Check it out if you'd like to see a video of How to Embed YouTube videos in Office 2010 applications. http://www.youtube.com/user/officevideos

How do I make a screenshot and add it to a PowerPoint?

a) For the screen capture you want, hold down the Ctrl + Alt + Print Screen key (far upper right on the keypad)

b) Go to a Power Point slide (the two students last night were working with Power Point but the steps work with any office software that allows copy & paste).

c) Paste the image into your slide/document –the screen capture may be bigger than your slide/document/box where you want image – that’s okay, we’re about to fix that.

d) Open the Picture Tools and select Crop – when selected, image has black handles around the corners and in the middle of each side. Use the black handles to crop down the image to the part of the screen you want as an image.

e) May have to reduce the image’s size in order to crop out some of the screen capture. Reduce image’s size(slowly) first and then crop.

f) Enlarge the image, if needed – you should now have the part of the screen captured as an image to use in your Power Point or document.

If you have Microsoft Office 2010...
Microsoft 2010 has a great screen capture feature which allows you to do all kinds of neat stuff.
Go to Insert, Screenshot, Screen Clipping and it lets you choose just what you want to insert. It’s in Word and Outlook as well.

Windows 7 provides a tool called the Snipping Tool that is located in the Start menu and Accessories Folder. It will allow you to capture images on the screen.

I'd Like to Use a Video in PowerPoint. How Can I Convert It to Use It?

Some videos posted on the Internet or videos from our own video recording devices may not be compatible for embedding into a PowerPoint in its original file format. If you have been given permission to change the file format you can use Real Players newest version to convert the video to a .wmv or .mov to use in your educational PowerPoint.

Follow this link (http://www.real.com/realplayer/media-converter) to download the player or to view a short demo on the product. Real Player can also convert your videos to file formats that can be downloaded and played on iPods, iPhones and other mobile devices.

Please follow all copyright regulations and check permissions when using videos.

How Do I put Two PowerPoints Together..in Office PowerPoint 2007?

If your PowerPoints are on a flash drive or if they are attached to an email open them or save them to the computer's desktop. Open the first one in PowerPoint on the computer. Click on New Slides then click on Reuse Slides at the bottom left of the window. A sidebar menu will open on the right. Click on Browse to search for your second PowerPoint show. Click on the PowerPoint file to highlight it. Click: OK to open the second PowerPoint. The slides should now appear in a right side menu box.

Note: At the bottom of the right side menu you can check a box that will import the second PowerPoint's slides in the same style you created them. If you leave it unchecked the slides you import will be changed to the first PowerPoint's theme and style.
At this point you should be able to see both PowerPoint slide shows in side menus, one on each side of the main window.

To add the slides from the right PowerPoint to the left PowerPoint, place your cursor and click on the space between the slides where you want the new slide to go. You will see a dark line appear where you clicked. Next, click on the slide in the right menu that you want to add. Clicking on it will add it to your first slide show.

To rearrange the slides in the first slide show just click and drag the slides up or down to change their position.
