How Do I Add Character Accents to Words in Office 2007?

Here is a video I found on the Microsoft.com Comminty Clips website. It explains how to add the accent marks.

Can I Post This Flyer in the Library or Lobby?

The library doesn't have a bulletin board to post flyers. You may ask to leave a pamphlet at the check-out desk for us to review. If it relates to school or a club, the library dean, Vicky Leather may agree to let you leave the pamphlets on available counterspace. She needs to approve it first. You are welcome to leave a note with your name and contact information if you want her response. The bulletin board in the lobby is under the Student Affairs' department. The following letter, sent on behalf of the Vice President of Student Affairs explains its use.

Faculty, Staff and Students:

Please be reminded of the policy below regarding Bulletin Boards, Signs and Posters. Any signage that is posted without proper approval will be removed by the Student Life Staff. All information posted must be in the designated area. Thanks for your help in keeping our campus clean and orderly.

Bulletin Boards, Signs and Posters:

  • Generally only signs and posters of faculty, staff and students will be allowed.
  • All materials posted must be approved and stamped by Student Affairs.
  • Student Activities (S-216) will have this responsibility.
  • Signs will be removed if not stamped.
  • Student Services, custodial, and administrative personnel may remove signs posted on windows, doors, etc. or in areas other than those designated.
  • There is a two-week posting period allowed.
  • Students may also place classified ads in the student newspaper.
  • Flyers and promotional materials must not be placed on vehicles unless permission is granted by the Dean of Student Life and Judicial Affairs.

How Do I Get the Sound (wav) File to Play in My PowerPoint?

If you inserted the sound clip by clicking on Insert>then clicking on Sound > then clicking on Sound From Clip Orgaizer > then clicking on the sound icon box for the sound you wanted. You have just added a linked file from a website, you did not save the sound file to your presentation.

These "sounds" are being played from a sound file called .wav file. The .wav or sound file is located on a website. When you click them to add them to your presentation you are inserting a link to the .wav file on that website. If you try to get them to play in your presentation later, they won't because the link is broken when you move your presentation from one computer to another.

Anytime you add a .wav sound file or a .mov or .wmv video file to to a PowerPoint presentation you need to copy those files into a folder with your PowerPoint presentation. This groups the files in one location so they can connect to one another and your sound will play in your presentation later.

To add the .wav sound file to your PowerPoint presentation create a folder for your presentation and save your PowerPoint presentation in the folder. Next, right click on the sound file you want in the Clip Organizer and click copy. Now right click on your folder and click paste. The .wav sound file has now been added to your folder. Now go back to the slide where you want to insert the sound. Click Insert> Sound>Choose Sound from File>Find and select the .wav file in your folder>Click OK. A pop-up window will appear and ask you how you want the sound to start in your PowerPoint. I tell students to select "When Clicked". This lets the student start the sound when they click the slide instead of it playing automatically when the slide comes up in the presentation.

To try out the sound on your slide from your Powerpoint presentation, click the Preview button on the ribbon.
