In Windows 7, a .pdf file will not always open with the .pdf toolbar (displaying print and save icons, or "find" search box) directly above the document.
If you need these features, you must bring your cursor near the bottom center of the document, until a dark gray popup appears. The popup displays an up and down button for navigation and other options. The icon you need to search the .pdf file is the Adobe Reader icon on the far right of the popup bar.
Select the Adobe icon and the normal toolbar on top and left of the document appears.
This issue was found while helping students navigate the Student Handbook.
Thanks SW for reporting this FAQ.
Update: Just found out that this may be more of a function of Adobe Reader X (ten) than with Windows 7. Adobe Reader 9 does automatically display the toolbar on the left, even in Windows 7.
